Ashlee Mells enters her third season as a graduate assistant coach for the Midwestern State women's basketball program in 2016-17.
Mells garnered Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year honors at Stephen F. Austin while helping the Lady Jacks to 23 wins in 2011-12 after transferring from Indiana where she played in 56 games for the Hoosiers in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
Mells enjoyed a standout prep career at South Grand Prairie (Texas) High where she earned district defensive player of the year as a senior, co-offensive player of the year honors as a junior and was the player of the year as a freshman and sophomore. The McDonald's All-America nominee averaged 15 points and 6.1 rebounds per game as a senior as one of the top-rated high school players in the country.
She earned her bachelor of science in Kinesiology and exercise science from Stephen F. Austin in 2013 and is currently pursuing a master's degree at MSU.
