Stephanie Cardona begins her first season as assistant softball coach at Midwestern State in 2023.
She served as a graduate assistant under long-time coaching stalwart Travis Scott at Angelo State during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The Rambelles posted a combined 72-26 record in her two seasons on staff including two trips to the NCAA Division II South Central Regionals.
Cardona coached on the club level with the Batbusters Softball Club from 2018-20 and served as an assistant varsity softball coach at Douglas County High School both in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Playing Career
Cardona enjoyed a stellar collegiate career as a four-year starter at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.
She garnered All-Heart of America Athletic Conference honors in each of her four seasons for the Wildcats. Cardona gained first-team honors during her junior campaign in 2017 and was a second-team selection in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
Cardona posted a .345 career batting average with 62 doubles, 11 triples, 17 homers and 134 RBIs in 631 collegiate at bats.
She played a major role in turning the program around as Baker improved from 12 wins during her freshman campaign to a school-record 41 wins, a No. 25 national ranking while advancing to the NAIA national tournament during her senior campaign of 2018.
Cardona played prep softball at Legend High School in Parker, Colorado.
Personal
Cardona graduated with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education and fitness from Baker University in 2018. She earned her master's degree in coaching, sport recreation and fitness administration from Angelo State in 2022.
