    Assistant Tennis Coach
Dave Alden begins his sixth season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Midwestern State men's and women's tennis programs in 2020.
 
Alden has served as the Head Tennis Professional at the Hamilton Park Tennis Center in Wichita Falls since July 2014 after 11 years in the NCAA Division II ranks as a head coach for Washburn (Kan.) and Metro State (Colo.).
 
"It's great to have another collegiate coach on staff that has seen success at the Division II level," Linn said.
 
Before arriving in Wichita Falls, Alden spent six seasons as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. In his stint at Washburn, Alden led the Ichabods to three NCAA regional appearances and a 2009 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) title while compiling a record of 62-53. Alden also saw success on the women's side, leading the Lady Blues to a 64-55 mark with two NCAA regional showings and a 2010 MIAA Championship.
 
Prior to coming to Washburn, Alden spent five seasons leading the Metro State tennis programs in Denver, Colorado, where he earned two RMAC Coach of the Year honors in his time with the Roadrunners. At MSU Denver, Alden helped the men's team to three NCAA appearances, two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament Championships and one regular season title. In his first season with the Roadrunner women, Alden guided the squad to a 16-6 record with a RMAC title sweep and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004.
 
In addition to his coaching duties at MSU Denver, Alden served as the assistant athletic director for marketing in the Roadrunners Athletic Department.
 
Before entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Alden served as a tennis professional at Regency Sport and Health in McLean, Virginia. He spent time coaching the junior and adult United States Tennis Association (USTA) teams and the top-ranked juniors in the Mid-Atlantic region. Alden was also an assistant director and co-founder of the Hank Harris Tennis Academy in Alexandria, Virginia, coaching several top-ranked juniors in the area.
 
Before his move to Virginia, Alden served as a staff professional and adult program director at the Fort Collins Indoor Tennis Center in Fort Collins, Colorado, from 1992-95. Alden was instrumental in developing a program for the top-ranked juniors in the Northern Colorado area and coached USTA junior and adult teams while in Fort Collins. He also spent time as the assistant tournament director for numerous USTA sanctioned tournaments.
 
Alden began his coaching career as an assistant varsity and head junior varsity coach for the boys and girls teams at Poudre High School in Fort Collins. He also worked as an assistant tennis professional at the Fort Collins Country Club before his time at the city's indoor tennis center.
 
During his career, Alden has worked as a USTA umpire, NTRP Tennis Rater, Wilson Professional Advisory staff member and been a member of the NCAA and ITA women's regional ranking committees.
 
Alden earned a bachelor's degree in Sport Industry Operations with a minor in Marketing from Metro State in December 2004.
