Amelia Lawson joins the staff as a graduate assistant after spending a season at No. 1 singles and doubles for the Mustangs as a fifth-year senior in 2023.

Lawson closed the year at No. 11 in the ITA Collegiate Regional Rankings and No. 66 in the nation among Division II singles players.

The native of Wellington, New Zealand, played No. 1 singles in all 25 dual matches for the Mustangs and posted a record of 14-10. Lawson was selected to the Lone Star Conference second team singles by the league's 11 head coaches and won seven of her final 10 singles matches, including a 6-4, 0-6, 6-0 triumph over Brooklyn Ross of UT Tyler, who was ranked No. 74 in the nation, in a 4-3 dual-match victory (4/11). 

Lawson defeated Paula Ballesteros of Southwest Baptist, who was ranked No. 18 in the region, 6-3, 6-4, in a 5-2 dual-match victory (3/3).

She also played No. 1 doubles alongside Sydney Williams in all 25 dual matches, and the pair finished with a 15-7 record. Lawson and Williams were 8-2 against LSC opponents.

Lawson/Williams were selected as Lone Star Conference first team doubles by the league's 11 head coaches.  ITA Collegiate Rankings placed the duo No. 4 in the region and No. 36 in the nation among Division II pairings. They won seven of their final 10 matches.

Lawson spent the first four years of her collegiate career at Towson, where she garnered third-team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) singles honors as a senior and posted a 20-19 combined record in dual play. Lawson was a team co-captain as a sophomore.

While at Towson, Lawson was a teammate with her sister Antonia. Her parents are Lane Lawson and Helen Avery.
