• a two-year letterwinner at defensive for coach Todd McVey at McKinney (Texas) High School.
• a second-team All-District 9-4A selection after making 46 tackles with two sacks, a pass breakup and an interception during senior season of 2006.
• twice named team's defensive player of the week during senior campaign.
