• three-year starter at tight end and left tackle for coach Rick Hutson at New Iberia (La.) Senior High where he helped the Yellowjackets a playoff appearance as a senior in 2005.
• part of an offensive line unit that produced a 1,000-yard runner in 2004 and 2005.
• earned two letters as a starter at center in basketball.
