Daniel Polk is the lone quarterback in college football (NCAA FBS, NCAA FCS, NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA) to pass for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 more in 2007... He became the first quarterback in Lone Star Conference history to accomplish the feat... Polk passed former Harlon Hill candidate Phillip Boggs and became MSU's all-time total offense leader on a 30-yard compleition to DelJuan Lee at 10:55 mark of the first quarter in MSU's 41-19 win over Southeastern Oklahoma on Oct. 27 at Paul Laird Field in Durant, Okla… Polk, who has notched 12 career 100-yard rushing games, owns three of the top single-game rushing totals in program history including three 200-yard performances… has started in all three of Midwestern’s NCAA Division II postseason contests… Polk became MSU's all-time touchdowns leader on Sep. 22 at East Central and now has 44 career TDs... Polk has accounted for another program record of 82 touchdowns during his career (44 rushing, 38 passing)... a three-time Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week in 2007 and was named National Offensive Player of the Week by D2Football.com...

2007

Adams State... became the school’s all-time leading rusher on his first carry of the season – a 54-yard TD run 2:46 into the contest. He finished the game with 68 yards on seven carries to move past current Oakland Raider RB Dominic Rhodes, who rushed for 2,541 yards in 1999-2000… Polk accounted for 363 yards of total offense (295 passing, 68 rushing), which ranks second in his career to a 393-yard outburst (149 passing, 249 rushing at Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 29, 2005… quarterbacked the MSU offense to a pair of school records on its way to the program’s second best day in terms of offense as the Mustangs 678 yards. MSU set high-water marks in first downs (33) and time of possession (44:15)… MSU’s 383 rushing yards against Adams State ranked No. 8 all-time… was named Lone Star Conference South Division Player of the Week...

Southwestern Oklahoma State... has accounted for the most touchdowns in school history after accounting for six of MSU's seven touchdowns against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sep. 9, 2007... Polk eclipsed former MSU standout quarterback Phillip Boggs with his fifth score of the game - a 4-yard scamper in the third quarter - and now has 56 (29 rushing, 27 passing) for his career... connected on 11 of his 16 passes for 210 yards including three scoring strikes to senior wideout DelJuan Lee (49, 56, 34)... rushed for 75 yards on 10 carries including three more scores (4, 30, 4)...

Northeastern State... completed his first 10 passes and ended up connecting on 19 of his 22 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for a game-high 68 yards on 12 carries and added a 4-yard TD run... became MSU's all-time leader with his 30th rushing touchdown...

East Central... rushed for 69 yards on eight carries including touchdown runs of 23 and 17 yards while completing 16 of his 25 passes for 219 yards and another score... directed MSU to its fifth-best day of total offense as the Mustangs rolled up 666 yards at a school-record clip of 11.5 yards per play... became the school's all-time touchdowns scored leader with a 23-yard scamper with 10:13 to go in the second quarter...

Angelo State... Polk ran for a season-high 130 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns while also connecting on 14-of-24 passes for 199 yards and another score to pace the nation’s No. 1 offense to a 44-16 win Saturday night at Angelo State. Polk, who played three quarters and took four snaps in the fourth, connected with DelJuan Lee for a 72-yard pitch and catch on the third play of the game and then rushed for a pair of touchdowns before intermission as the Mustangs bolted to a 20-3 halftime lead.

West Texas A&M... Polk threw for 214 yards on 20-of-38 passing, while rushing for 27 yards on 17 carries... With a 6-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter, Polk extended his regular season streak to 10 games in which he has accounted for at least one score...

Tarleton State... accounted for 340 yards of total offense as he passed for 200 yards and rushed for 100 more for the first time in his career... rushed for 101 yards on 19 carries and three for 239 yards on 21-of-29 passing...

Texas A&M-Kingsville... recorded the the 11th 100-yard rushing performance of his career finishing 113 yards on nine carries, including a pair of touchdown runs (13, 57)... completed 11-of-20 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns... finished with 254 yards of total offense...

Southeastern Oklahoma State... passed for a season-high 296 yards on 18-of-27 passing, while piling up a season-best 369 yards of total offense in MSU's 41-19 win over the Savage Storm... ran for 73 yards on 12 carries with three touchdowns (12, 10, 10)... it was the second-straight season he rushed for three scored against SOSU as he posted scoring runs of 3, 80 and 69 on his way to a program-record 259 rushing yards on Oct. 28 at Memorial Stadium... Polk also recorded scoring passes to Chad Olson (31 yards) and Robert Wells (15 yards)...

Eastern New Mexico... named Lone Star Conference South Division Player of the Week for the second time this season after accounting for 300 total yards of offense in just three quarters of MSU 63-7 pasting of Eastern New Mexico at Blackwater Draw... Polk connected on 15-of-24 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 52 yards on seven carries...

Abilene Christian... rushed for an MSU record 290 yards on 28 carries and three touchdowns on his way to a career-best 477 yards of total offense... completed 14-of-22 passes for 187 yards... The 6-2, 202-pound senior, who tallied the best rushing day in the Lone Star Conference and 10th best in NCAA Division II this season, piled up the third-most impressive total offensive yards in MSU history which was also best in the LSC and sixth best in NCAA Division II this season... Named Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week... Named D2Football.com National Offensive Player of the Week...

2006

earned third-team All-Southwest Region honors from Don Hansen’s Football Gazette and second-team All-LSC South honors after leading the nation’s best Division II offensive juggernaut… became the first quarterback in school history to pass and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season finishing with 1,114 passing yards while leading the LSC in rushing with 1,199 yards on 154 carries (7.8 per carry)… eclipsed the century mark in rushing yards four times, including an MSU-record 259-yard outburst against Southeastern Oklahoma on Oct. 28, 2006 to garner Hanson Football Gazette National Player of the Week honors… an underrated passer, he completed 56.2 percent (77-of-137) of his passes and recorded 146.1 pass efficiency rating while completing 12 passes for touchdowns to just five interceptions… accounted for 23 touchdowns all told… averaged 7.95 yards of total offense per play…

2005

was a first-team All-LSC South selection while seeing limited field time… found time to rush for 869 yards and eight touchdowns on 91 carries for a 9.5 yards per carry… blitzed Eastern New Mexico with 244 rushing yards and two touchdowns on Oct. 29, 2005 for a then-school record and also completed 7-of-11 passes for 149 yards and two more scores… passed for 521 yards and five TDs for a 148.8 pass efficiency rating… set a school record for average yards per touch at 9.08 yards of total offense a play…

2004

named LSC South Division Freshman of the Year leading MSU to its first postseason appearance since 1991 after Rahsaan Bell a suffered season-ending injury with three games to play… burst onto the scene with 150 yards on 18 carries in a reserve role against Texas A&M-Commerce on Oct. 9, 2004… quarterbacked team to a clutch 29-19 win over Abilene Christian on Nov. 6, 2004 to clinch a playoff berth and an LSC South Division title… completed 10-of-15 passes for 117 yards while rushing for 73 yards and two touchdowns against ACU while catching a pass for 28 more yards… recorded career-high 307 passing yards in playoff loss at Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 13, 2004…
