Bret Beachner begins his first season as a running backs coach at Midwestern State.

He comes to MSU from Ottawa (Kan.) where he spent three seasons coaching quarterbacks and receivers, helping coach OU to the 2011 and 2012 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

During all three seasons of Beachner’s tenure at Ottawa, the Braves were ranked in the top 15 in the NAIA in passing offense (averaging 250.7 yards a game for the span) and top 12 in scoring offense (37.1 points per game). The Braves also averaged 396.8 yards of total offense during his career.

As a player, Beachner was a four-year letterman for the Sioux Falls (S.D.). The former quarterback was part of two NAIA National Championship teams in 2006 and 2008.
