Blake Frazier was selected to be the Mustangs’ defensive coordinator by head coach Rich Renner prior to the start of the 2024 season.
Renner was the defensive coordinator at MSU for 14 seasons before taking over as the head coach when Bill Maskill retired following the 2023 campaign.
Frazier served as the defensive coordinator at Olive Branch High School in Mississippi for two seasons before joining the Mustangs.
From 2017 to 2021, Frazier was the linebackers coach at Magnolia Heights in Senatobia, Mississippi.
Frazier worked as a scout in the Canadian Football League, finding talent for the Calgary Stampeders, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Edmonton Elks.
He spent five seasons as the defensive coordinator at East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi, after seven seasons in the same capacity with Northwest Community College.
In four of his five seasons at NWCC, the Rangers boasted the top-rated defense.
He began his coaching career at Jones Junior College as the defensive line coach in 2001. The following season, Frazier was the linebackers coach at West Alabama.
Frazier was the head football coach and defensive coordinator at Cottage Hill Christian High School in Mobile, Alabama, during the 2003 season.
Frazier has coached or signed numerous players that played professionally in either the NFL or the CFL, including running back Lagarrette Blount, who won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and led the league in rushing touchdowns during the 2016 season.
Frazier also signed defensive back Justin Cox to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who was the team's Rookie of the Year in 2016.
Daniel Thomas, Patrick Trahan, Devon Hicks, Bobby Keyes, Alonzo Nix, Thomas Majors, Kenny Covington, Curtis Steele and Walter Thomas were also coached or signed by Frazier.
Frazier graduated from Southwest Mississippi Community College in 2000 and earned a bachelor's degree in science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2002. Frazier also received a master's degree from Mississippi College in 2018.
Frazier and his wife, Penny, have one child - Maisey.
