Senior (2008)

• earned All-Lone Star Conference honorable mention for the fourth-straight season after ranking third in the league with 4.80 digs per set.
• finished as program's all-time leader with 2,188 career digs.
• started each of MSU's 34 matches at libero.
• recorded at least 20 digs in 10 matches including a season-high 31 digs at No. 9 Washburn (Kan.) on Oct. 3, 2008.
• led team with 32 service aces with a .917 serve percentage.
• three-time Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Junior (2007)

• earned All-Lone Star Conference honorable mention after leading the league in service aces (70) and service aces per set (0.62) while finishing sixth in digs per set at 5.20.
• became program’s all-time digs leader at the NCAA II Southwest Regional against West Texas A&M on Nov. 16, 2007 and finished the season with 1,612 career digs.
• broke own school record with 589 digs after finishing with 572 in 2006.
• set program single-season standard with 71 service aces.
• named LSC Defensive Player of the Week for period ending Sep. 10, 2007.
• had at least 20 digs in 15 matches.
• had season-high 29 digs against Cameron on Sep. 27, 2007.
• recorded eight service aces against Ouachita Baptist on Sep. 8, 2007.

Sophomore (2006)

• earned All-Lone Star Conference North Division honorable mention after averaging 2.19 kills and 3.92 digs per game.
• set a career high with 36 digs at Texas Woman’s University on Oct. 24, 2006.

Freshman (2005)

• an All-LSC North Division honorable mention after recording 3.11 kills per game on a .255 attack percentage while setting MSU’s single-season mark for digs in a season with 4.54 per game (572 total digs).
• her 59 service aces ranked fifth in the conference.
• earned LSC North Division Player of the Week honors after leading MSU to its first win over Cameron in 15 seasons with 17 kills (.433 attack percentage), 15 digs and two service aces on Sep. 24, 2005.

At River Road High School

• a Class 2A all-state selection as a four-year starter for coach Kyra Satterfield at River Road High School in Amarillo, Texas.
• all started four years in basketball, competed in track and was a cheerleader.

Shay, a Spanish major and English minor with a writing emphasis, is the daughter of Chuck Velasquez and Tonia Allen of Amarillo, Texas... she was born Jan. 21, 1987...
