2023 StangGang Women's Soccer Podcast with Ryan Spence

September 09, 2025
This week's Stang Gang Podcast features an in-depth look at Midwestern State Women's Soccer with head coach Ryan Spence.

A pair of 2-0 leads disappeared in the Mustangs' two matches this past week.

Midwestern State took a 2-0 lead at Southern Nazarene as Morgan Countryman assisted Marlene Myrvold, and Madison Brinkley scored on a penalty kick in the opening 17 minutes, but the Crimson Storm earned a draw by scoring twice in the final 18 minutes of the match at Wanda Rhodes Soccer Complex in Bethany, Oklahoma on Thursday night.

It was MSU that overcame a 2-0 deficit at Ouachita Baptist on Sunday. After a scoreless first half, the Tigers scored twice in a five-minute span early in the second half, but the Mustangs responded. Jasmine Montgomery scored off a cross from Mable Pruter in the 67th minute, and Abbey Lee pulled Midwestern State even with a goal in the 88th minute, assisted by Morgan Countryman and Sloane Sullivan.

McKenna Wright secured the win for Ouachita Baptist with a goal in the 89th minute at Kluck Field in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

The Mustangs have a third consecutive away match this week as they visit Central Oklahoma for their final non-conference affair on Thursday night. Kickoff at Tom Thompson Field in Edmond, Oklahoma, is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Conference play begins on Sept. 17 in Laredo at Texas A&M International.

The home opener is Sept. 20, when MSU hosts LSC newcomer UT Dallas at 1 p.m.
