A pair of 2-0 leads disappeared in the Mustangs' two matches this past week.
Midwestern State took a 2-0 lead at Southern Nazarene as
Morgan Countryman assisted
Marlene Myrvold, and
Madison Brinkley scored on a penalty kick in the opening 17 minutes, but the Crimson Storm earned a draw by scoring twice in the final 18 minutes of the match at Wanda Rhodes Soccer Complex in Bethany, Oklahoma on Thursday night.Â
It was MSU that overcame a 2-0 deficit at Ouachita Baptist on Sunday. After a scoreless first half, the Tigers scored twice in a five-minute span early in the second half, but the Mustangs responded.
Jasmine Montgomery scored off a cross from
Mable Pruter in the 67th minute, and
Abbey Lee pulled Midwestern State even with a goal in the 88th minute, assisted by
Morgan Countryman and
Sloane Sullivan.
McKenna Wright secured the win for Ouachita Baptist with a goal in the 89th minute at Kluck Field in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.Â
The Mustangs have a third consecutive away match this week as they visit Central Oklahoma for their final non-conference affair on Thursday night. Kickoff at Tom Thompson Field in Edmond, Oklahoma, is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Conference play begins on Sept. 17 in Laredo at Texas A&M International.
The home opener is Sept. 20, when MSU hosts LSC newcomer UT Dallas at 1 p.m.Â
