Stang Gang Women's Basketball Podcast with Brenita Jackson

February 11, 2025
Find out what's happening with Midwestern State Women's Basketball during this week's Stang Gang Podcast, featuring head coach Brenita Jackson.

Midwestern State (11-12, 9-8) is preparing for a crucial week at D.L. Ligon Coliseum as UT Permian Basin (12-11, 10-7) and Angelo State (16-7, 12-5) visit the Mustangs, who are battling to make the LSC Postseason Tournament.

The Mustangs earned their first road victory of the year by defeating the Falcons at UTPB Gym Complex last month, 62-57. MSU took a 15-5 lead in the first quarter at Odessa as the Falcons were just 2-of-19 from the field to start the game. UTPB is 4-5 on the road after suffering back-to-back losses at Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M.

Angelo State, which has lost its last two games, did not face a Midwestern State team with a full arsenal in San Angelo. The Rambelles won the first meeting, 84-61, on Jan. 16, but Zarria Carter was only able to play 20 minutes after getting called for three fouls in the first half, and a fourth foul was assessed in the opening two minutes of the third quarter.

Carter and the Mustangs dealt with similar frustration in their 52-50 loss at Western New Mexico on Saturday as Carter was only able to play 16 minutes due to foul trouble.

Carter scored 32 points on 12-of-17 shooting, leading MSU to an 88-70 win at Sul Ross State in the first game of their recent road trip.
