Midwestern State head men's and women's tennis coach
Scott Linn discusses the challenges his teams face week-in and week-out, and the on-court battles throughout the course of the season.
The Midwestern State women's tennis team earned a berth in the ITA Division II Women's National Team Indoor Championship at Indianapolis and reached the final this past week.Â
The Mustangs posted wins over No. 4-ranked Lynn (4-3) and No. 6-ranked North Georgia (4-0) before facing top-ranked Barry, which has won the national championship eight times since 2014.
The Buccaneers won their fourth-straight ITA Division II Women's National Team Indoor Championship by defeating the Mustangs, 4-0. In the six years of ITA Indoor Championship history, Barry has reached the finals in all five of their appearances. The Mustangs are striving to compete at that level on a consistent basis.
The men have not played a dual match since defeating Harding, 4-3, at Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Feb. 14. Things are about to heat up for the men. This week, the Mustangs are competing in the UT Tyler Invitational, and like the women, the men will face Auburn-Montgomery, West Florida and West Alabama.
Both teams are playing at MSU Tennis Center on March 7, 8 and 9 as Northwest Missouri State, Newman (Kan.) and Arkansas-Fort Smith visit the Stang Gang.
