Midwestern State opened the season with a five-goal outburst as Mere Escobar and Eduardo Cerna each score twice in a 5-3 victory at MSU Denver on opening day. Escobar scored again at Regis as Midwestern State settled for a 1-1 draw against the Rangers, who scored on a PK in the 81st minute. Escobar was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The Mustangs complete a three-game road trip to start the season with a Thursday matinee at Rogers State. Kickoff at Soldier Field in Claremore, Oklahoma, is scheduled for 2 p.m.
