Midwestern State has a five-game unbeaten streak after playing a 0-0 draw with Dallas Baptist and earning a 2-0 victory in its first-ever meeting with Sul Ross State. The Mustangs are ranked No. 18 in the nation with a 9-1-3 overall record and a 4-1-1 record in the Lone Star Conference. The Mustangs return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon to face rival West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas, at 1 p.m.  Mere Escobar struck the game-winning goal in the 89th minute and the Mustangs beat the Buffaloes in a non-conference clash at Stang Park on Sept. 25. Escobar leads the LSC and is sixth in the nation with 12 goals this season, and the Austin native has 56 career goals for the Mustangs, which is just two shy of the school record.
