Stang Gang Podcast with Justin Leslie

January 21, 2025
A candid conversation with head basketball coach Justin Leslie, who shares his thoughts about the men's basketball team and previews upcoming action for the Mustangs.

Midwestern State split a pair of road games as it went from the Concho Valley to the Permian Basin over the weekend. A poor performance on the glass and at the free-throw line cost the Mustangs at Angelo State as the Rams won the first game of the road trip, 72-68. Pierre Sanders refused to let the Stang Gang stumble at UT Permian Basin on Saturday afternoon. Sanders poured in 32 points and was the heartbeat of the team as it rallied from a 20-point deficit in the first half to defeat the Falcons in overtime, 80-74. The Mustangs did not allow UTPB to score a single point in the overtime period. Will Shepherd hit a 3-pointer with 3:06 remaining in overtime, and MSU held on for the victory. Midwestern State opens a four-game homestand on Thursday as it renews the "Red River Rivalry" with the Cameron Aggies. Tipoff is at 7:30 pm. The homestand continues on Saturday afternoon with Oklahoma Christian visiting D.L. Ligon Coliseum at 3 p.m.
