Stang Gang Podcast with Justin Leslie

February 11, 2025
A candid conversation with head basketball coach Justin Leslie, who shares his thoughts about the men's basketball team and previews upcoming action for the Mustangs.

Midwestern State (17-5, 12-4) earned an elusive road sweep on its arduous journey to Sul Ross State and Western New Mexico last week.

Midwestern State took an early lead in its first-ever visit to Sul Ross and defeated the Lobos, 75-63.

On the second leg of the trip, Midwestern State held Western New Mexico to 27.3 percent shooting from the field and pulled away for a 68-46 victory.

This week, the Mustangs have a pair of rematches.

UT Permian Basin (15-8, 11-6) arrives at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on the heels of back-to-back losses at West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. The Falcons saw a 20-point lead disappear the last time they faced the Mustangs, who won in overtime at Odessa, 80-74, on Jan. 18.

The Mustangs are looking to turn the tables on Angelo State (14-9, 10-7), which defeated Midwestern State in their first meeting, 72-68. The Rams have won three of their last four games and have a 5-5 road record entering this week.
