Midwestern State made an arduous trip to Houghton, Michigan, last weekend for its final non-conference game of the season against Michigan Tech. The Huskies took advantage of four turnovers and stopped MSU on fourth down twice in the first half to take a 31-7 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Mustangs made a valiant attempt at a second-half comeback but unmade plays allowed Michigan Tech to stay in front, and Midwestern State lost its first road game of the season 48-27. After a bye week, the Mustangs will host Western New Mexico on Sept. 19 with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
