ODESSA, Texas – Midwestern State is on the road for its first conference game of the season, and it will be a battle of unbeatens as the Mustangs visit UT Permian Basin on Wednesday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Midwestern State (4-0-0) has not conceded a goal in its first four games of the season, and outscored its opponents, 10-0. Nine different Mustangs have scored a goal this season while seven different players have a recorded an assist.

Bella Pillow is the only player with multiple goals for the Mustangs, scoring in each of the first two games.

Lexi Gonzales leads the team with five points, scoring a goal in a 5-0 season-opening win at Oklahoma Baptist, where she also recorded her first assist. The senior from Grand Prairie, Texas, assisted on both goals in a 2-0 with over Colorado Mesa at Stang Park.

The Mustangs extended their home unbeaten streak to 23 games on Sunday afternoon. Sloane Sullivan scored her first goal of the season in the 64th minute, and LSC Goalkeeper of the Week Lauren Short made four saves.

Midwestern State won its only previous road game this season at Oklahoma Baptist, and Short wasn't asked to make a single save in that match. The sophomore from Frisco, Texas, made one stop in a 2-0 win over Ouachita Baptist before making three saves in the triumph against Colorado Mesa.

The Mustangs have only allowed opponents to take eight shots on goal through four matches in 2026 and extended their streak of not allowing an opponent to take more than five shots on goal to 23 games, dating back to the second game of last season.

Midwestern State is 14-1-1 in its all-time series with UTPB, and the Mustangs have won the last six meetings, including a 2-1 victory at home last season. MSU is 7-0-0 all-time when visiting the Falcons and won its last trip to Odessa, 2-0, in 2023.

UT Permian Basin (3-0-0) is coming off a 2-0 win over New Mexico Highlands on Saturday afternoon for its second consecutive shutout after opening the season with a 7-1 win over University of the Southwest (N.M.). The Falcons also brushed past Wayland Baptist 1-0 and played all three non-conference games at UTPB Soccer Field.
Kelly Calcaterra and Bre Reagan both scored their first goals of the season in the Falcons' 2-0 win over New Mexico Highlands on Saturday. It was the first time this season that UTPB faced an NCAA Division II opponent, and the Falcons outshot the Cowgirls 16-7 and Diego Valeria made two saves. Valeria made two saves in the first half, and Alexia Hernandez played the second half with having to make a stop. 

Delgado has started two games for the Falcons, and Hernandez started against Wayland Baptist last Wednesday. Nicole Quinones has played nearly 15 minutes in goal this season.

Cassandra Ramirez has scored four of the 10 goals for UTPB this season, including a hat trick against Southwest in the season opener. Ramirez has put seven of her 10 shots on frame, including two of the four shots she took against New Mexico Highlands.

Mariela Ojeda scored twice against Southwest and is second on the team with four points. Ojeda has put five of her nine shots on goal for the Falcons.

Sarah Williams leads the team with two assists, which both came in the 7-1 blowout of Southwest to start the season. Trinity Vasquez has a goal and an assist for UTPB and is third on the team with three points.

UTPB has put 23 of its 46 shots on goal through its first three games this season but was outshot by Midwestern State last season, 28-3, and only managed one shot on goal. 

Midwestern State returns to the amiable environs of Stang Park on Saturday for a 4 p.m. game against Eastern New Mexico.
