WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Lauren Short kept back-to-back clean sheets for (RV) Women's Soccer to earn Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, announced the conference office on Monday. The keeper earns the accolade for the first time this season, and the second team in their career. Short joins
Bella Pillow in earning LSC weekly accolades, as the junior defender earned LSC Defender of the Week earlier this season (8/31).
Short kept their third and fourth shutouts of the season, helping the Mustangs move to 4-0-0. In the 2-0 home win over Colorado Mesa, Short made three stops to keep the Mavericks out. Three days later, the sophomore held a 1-0 shutout against Central Oklahoma, making a season high four saves in the action.
The goalkeeper now has four shutouts on the season, surpassing their total amount of shutouts in 2025 (3). The run of good form has lifted the Mustangs to their first 4-0-0 start since 2024, and only the second time in program history the Mustangs began the season for four shutouts (2004).
Midwestern State begins conference play this week, traveling to Odessa, Texas to take on UT Permian Basin. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. from UTPB Turf Field.
