TYLER, Texas -- No. 3-ranked Midwestern State extended its unbeaten streak to 21 games with a 3-0 win over Texas A&M International at Stang Park on Saturday afternoon and travels to UT Tyler for its midweek match on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Mustangs have a six-game winning streak and are 1-0-2 on the road this season this season.
 
Parker Plaxco had a hat trick in the win over TAMIU, and Jake Morris recorded his third clean sheet in the last four matches for Midwestern State (8-0-2, 2-0-0).
 
The Mustangs have the best goal differential in the conference, and they are third in NCAA Division II at plus-21, outscoring the opposition through the first eight games this season, 28-7.
 
Plaxco, the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, has scored seven goals in the last five games for the Mustangs, including three game-winning goals. Plaxco is the leading goal scorer in the Lone Star Conference and ninth in the nation with eight goals this season.
 
Jose Ortiz is the second-leading goal scorer in the LSC with seven, including a four-goal outburst in the season-opening 5-0 win over Cal State East Bay in Richardson, Texas. Ortiz scored the game-winning goal against Simon Fraser. The senior transfer from SMU is 13th in NCAA Division II among goal scorers.
 
Ten Mustangs have scored goals this season. Rivera, Lawrence Doe Jr., Cooper Tea, Juan David Valencia Vacca, and Italo Rodriguez have all scored twice this season. Victor Hernandez III, Cristopher Guevara and Liam Kervick have all found the back of the net once this season.
 
Ethan Krchnak and Cooper Tea lead the Mustangs with four assists, and MSU is 11th in the nation with 20 assists, which is second-most in the LSC.  Oscar Nunez, Davis Mays and Alan Rivera have accounted for three assists.  Tanner Tea has two assists. Valencia, Hernandez and Eduardo Cerna each have one assist for the Stang Gang.
 
Midwestern State is second in the league with seven points per game, which is seventh in the nation, and the Mustangs are second in the LSC with 2.3 assists per game.
 
Midwestern State is outshooting opponents 168-107, and the Mustangs are putting 43.5 percent of their shots on frame, while opponents are putting 43 percent of their shots on goal.
 
Morris, the LSC Goalkeeper of the Week for the second straight week, has played 900 minutes and has a save percentage of .848 with a 0.70 goals-against average. Morris made a critical save late in the game against Western Oregon on the recent road trip and made a season-high six saves in a 6-1 win over Colorado Mesa earlier this season. The junior from Parker, Colorado, has made five saves twice this season. He made three saves for the fourth time this year in the win over Simon Fraser. 

Midwestern State is 9-0-0 in its all-time series with UT Tyler and has won the last two meetings, 2-0, including the LSC Men's Soccer Championship semifinal last season. Cooper Tea and Cristopher Guevara scored in the conference tournament for the Mustangs in a 36-second span of the second half. Liam Kervick and Parker Plaxco scored against the Patriots in the regular season matchup at Stang Park last year. 

UT Tyler (2-2-4, 0-1-1) is coming off a 3-1 loss at West Texas A&M on Saturday. The Patriots are scoring 1.25 goals per game this season and has a goal differential of minus-3.

Noe Coutino has three goals and is the only player with multiple goals for UT Tyler this season. Seven players have all scored one goal for the Patriots, who have been outscored 13-10. UT Tyler has five players with one assist each.

Niclas Becker and Beaux Benson have split time in goals. Becker has four starts with a 1.25 goals-against average, and Benson has four starts with a 2.00 goals-against average. The two have a combined .729 save percentage.  Becker has two clean sheets, and Benson has one shutout for the Patriots.

Midwestern State returns home Saturday night to face Oklahoma Christian at Stang Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the first 250 fans in attendance get a free MSU x Pepsi Drink Koozie for Maroon Day.
