WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Bruno Sanchez earned a spot on the All-Lone Star Conference first team in both singles and doubles. Sanchez and
Juan David Duque were one of three doubles teams selected for the first team, and Sanchez is one of six singles players on the first team.
Germano Setti, No. 18 in the latest ITA singles rankings, earned a spot on the second team in singles and is also second team doubles alongside his partner
Matthew Earle.
Setti was also named the LSC Men's Tennis Academic Player of the Year for the second time in his career. He also won the award in 2024.
Setti is majoring in general business and carries a 3.971 grade-point average. President of the MSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, he has earned Midwestern State President's and Provost's Honor Roll recognition. Setti has twice been named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and MSU Mustang Scholar-Athlete. Earlier this week, Setti was the recipient of the Marie Morgan Award, presented annually to the most outstanding male and female student-athlete at Midwestern State.
Setti will be a candidate for the 2025-26 Lone Star Conference Fred Jacoby Academic Athlete of the Year award to be announced in June.
Duque and
Jose Marquez received honorable mention in singles.
Cesar Loeches Llamas was one of nine players selected for the Sportsmanship Team.
The awards are determined by a vote of the league's nine head coaches.
Sanchez, a junior from Spain, has a four-match winning streak and is 7-1 in conference play at No. 2 singles for the Mustangs. Sanchez is No. 45 in the ITA rankings.
In doubles, Sanchez and Duque have a seven-match winning streak and are 7-1 against LSC foes in the No. 1 spot for MSU. The pairing is No. 10 in the latest ITA rankings.
Setti, a senior from Brazil, is 5-2 in conference play at No. 1 singles with a 12-4 record this season. Setti and Earle are 15-2 at No. 2 doubles, winning six of seven matches against LSC opponents.
Marquez, a senior from Mexico, closed out the regular season with three straight wins in singles without dropping a set and was 6-2 in conference play. Marquez is No. 58 in the ITA singles rankings.
Duque, a senior from Colombia, also has a three-match winning streak in singles and won four of his six matches against opponents from the LSC in the regular season.
Loeches Llamas is a freshman from Spain with a 4-3 record in singles, and he is 6-8 in doubles this season, playing at various times with Sanchez, Marquez and Setti.
No. 25-ranked Midwestern State is the No. 4 seed in the LSC Men's Tennis Championship and faces St. Mary's in the quarterfinals at Arlington Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled at noon on Thursday. The winner squares off with top-seeded Lubbock Christian at 1 p.m. on Friday.
