WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Midwestern State pairing of
Germano Setti and
Matthew Earle were selected as the Lone Star Conference Men's Doubles Team of the Week.
Setti is No. 7 in the ITA Collegiate Rankings among NCAA Division II singles players, and Earle is a two-time ITA All-American in doubles. The fifth-year senior from Dublin, Ireland, was the ITA Cup Doubles National Champion alongside Tim Hammes in 2024 and transferred to Midwestern State from Washburn.
The duo has been an impenetrable force at No. 2 doubles in the last five dual matches for Midwestern State.
This past weekend, Earle and Setti extended their winning streak to five matches and improved to 6-1 for the season.
The first victims were Gabriel Garay and Sebastiao Vilas of West Alabama, who were defeated 6-2 during the LSC/Gulf South crossover event in Tyler, Texas.
On Saturday, Earle and Setti weaved their way through Daniel Margoulis and Guillermo Sanchez of Auburn Montgomery for a 6-3 victory.
Against No. 2-ranked West Florida, the duo breezed past Mark Neyelov and Samuel Vidales, 6-2.
No. 26-ranked Midwestern State won two of the three dual matches in Tyler and improved to 4-3. The only loss came against the second-ranked Argonauts, who prevailed 6-1.
Midwestern State is scheduled to play Northeastern State at the NSU Tennis Complex in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on Tuesday. First serve is scheduled for noon.
