LAWTON, Okla. – Midwestern State began its 10-game road trip at McMahon Field on Friday evening, and Cameron swept the doubleheader. The Aggies took the opener, 9-2, and won the nightcap, 9-4.
Midwestern State (3-13, 1-7) got off to a promising start in Game 1.
Tatum Waller and
Chipper Mayorga broke up a scoreless tie in the third inning by driving in runs after
Erikha Ibarra-Subia walked, and
Hayeli Acosta delivered a double to start the inning. The Mustangs established a 2-0 lead.
The Aggies scored eight runs on six hits in the fourth inning as Hayley Gardella hit a two-run homer, and Brynn Webber added a three-run blast to center field later in the inning.
Cameron, which took advantage of a fielding error and added a run in the sixth inning, finished Game 1 with 11 hits.
Chloe Hill (1-0) was the winning pitcher, working four innings of relief and allowing just two hits with two strikeouts.
Kayleigh Bowers (0-7) pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on six hits with one walk.
Cameron jumped out to a 4-0 lead with five hits in the first inning of Game 2. Kyndel McDaniel hit a three-run homer to left field, and Alyssa Morgan delivered an RBI single.
In the third inning, Ibarra-Subia reached on a fielder's choice and drove in pinch runner

Madison Stewart on the bases following a lead-off double, which was Stewart's first of three hits in the game.
Cameron pushed the lead to 7-1 in the fourth inning. Gardella, Madysen Boutwell and Rylee Ross all had two-out RBIs for the Aggies.
Stewart scored a run for the Mustangs in the fifth inning, when Acosta was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Stewart drove in two runs with a single to left field in the sixth inning, but the Aggies matched the Mustangs in the home half of the inning, when Gardella hit a two-run homer to left field.
Stormee Reed (3-2) earned the win in the circle for Cameron, recording 13 strikeouts while allowing four runs on seven hits with five walks.
Audrey Sierra worked four innings of relief for Midwestern State after
Kaylin Salazar (0-1) allowed four runs on five hits in the first inning.
Stewart was 5-for-6 in the doubleheader with a run scored and two RBIs. Mayorga had three hits in the two games combined, and the freshman second baseman has at least one hit in 15 of the 16 games for the Mustangs.
Midwestern State will be at No. 13-ranked Oklahoma Christian on Sunday afternoon for a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m.
