Women's Tennis Remain No. 8 In ITA National Poll

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State Women's Tennis remain No. 8 in the nation in most recent ITA NCAA Division II Rankings, announced by the organization Wednesday afternoon.

The Mustangs have had a smooth beginning to the season, beating Northwest Missouri State in the season opener, 6-1, then beating Cowley County CC (5-2) and Seward County CC, 7-0. The Mustangs will now face a tough road stretch, playing Nebraska-Kearney, Rockhurst, and No. 11 Washburn this weekend.

Of the Mustangs next seven matches, four will be against ranked competition (No. 11 Washburn, No. 7 West Florida, No. 22 Auburn-Montgomery, and No. 5 West Alabama). MSU are the highest ranked Lone Star Conference team in the ITA rankings, with No. 12 St. Mary's and No. 21 UT Tyler representing the LSC.

Midwestern State play their final exhibition of the season on Thursday, Feb. 18, against Collin College. The home trip is followed by matches in Kearney, Neb., facing Nebraska-Kearney (Feb. 20) and Rockhurst (Feb. 21), then against No. 11 Washburn in Topeka, Kansas (Feb. 22).
