WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State Men's Tennis stay at No. 18 in the newest ITA NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Rankings, announced the organization on Wednesday morning.
Midwestern State began the season with a victory over Northwest Missouri State, 5-2, while picking up exhibition wins over Cowley County CC (6-1), Seward County CC (5-2), and Collin College (6-1). The Mustangs will now face a tough road stretch, playing Nebraska-Kearney, Rockhurst, and No. 4 Washburn this weekend.
Alongside the Mustangs in the national poll, No. 5 UT Tyler and No. 6 Lubbock Christian represent the Lone Star Conference. The Mustangs will also face No. 2 West Florida and No. 4 Washburn later in the season. Barry leads the poll after winning the ITA DII National Men's Team Indoor Championships this past weekend. Barry bested No. 3 West Florida, 4-0 in the championship match, after win the semifinal 4-1 against No. 4 Washburn, and quarterfinal against UIndy, 4-0.
The Mustangs travel to Nebraska and Kansas this weekend, playing three matches. First, MSU will travel to Kearney, Neb., facing Nebraska-Kearney (Feb. 20) and Rockhurst (Feb. 21), then traveling to Topeka, Kan. to face No. 4 Washburn (Feb. 22).
