Macy Scheer Recognized as LSC Setter of the Week

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Following a 3-0 weekend for Midwestern State Volleyball, Macy Scheer earned Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week honors, announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. It is the first weekly conference accolade of her career.

Scheer is the first volleyball player of the week for the Mustangs this season and is just the second LSC setter of the week for MSU since 2014.

The junior setter averaged 12.43 assists per set during three conference victories over the week for MSU. Scheer began the week with a career high 69 assists during the Mustangs 3-2 comeback win over West Texas A&M. Scheer's assist total is the highest in a single-match by an LSC player this season, and the second most in NCAA DII. In MSU history, the total is the 6th most in a single match, while being the most since 2005, and the most in the 25-ralley scoring era.

Scheer followed the victory over WT with 46 assists in a road victory over Oklahoma Christian (3-1). The Mustangs bounced back after dropping the first set to take the final three frames. The Golden, Colo. native concluded the weekend with 39 assists in a straight sets victory over Cameron, helping the team hit .333 during the match.

The Mustangs return to D.L. Ligon Coliseum for a six-match homestand, beginning with a non0conference clash against Southern Nazarene on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. The Mustangs continue the home stretch with five conference matches, taking on UT Dallas (Oct. 9), UT Tyler (Oct. 10), Texas A&M-Kingsville (Oct. 16), and Texas A&M International (Oct. 17), and Eastern New Mexico (Oct. 20).
