LAWTON, Okla. — Midwestern State defeated Cameron 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-19) at Aggie Gym on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs hit .333 with 47 kills and 13 errors, while Cameron finished at .194 with 38 kills and 17 errors.
Midwestern State (9-8, 5-2) won its third straight match overall and won its third straight match in the Red River Rivalry, improving to 33-39 in its all-time series with Cameron (1-16, 1-5), which fell to 0-9 at home and lost its fourth consecutive match overall.
The Mustangs overcame a 17-15 deficit in the opening set and won 25-22.

Macy Scheer assists as MSU took a 3-1 lead, but Cameron answered and later led 15-12.

Jaiden Wright and
TaNia Penn helped the Mustangs respond, with Penn and Wright combining on a block before Penn's kill evened the set at 15-15. After the Aggies went back ahead 17-15, MSU scored five of the next six points behind a Wright kill, a Penn kill and two Cameron attack errors.
The Mustangs swung the second set by turning a 13-12 deficit into a 17-13 lead, starting with a Penn kill and continuing through four straight points on
Giselle Cazares' serve that included two Dickens kills and a Toppin kill. Earlier, MSU opened with Dickens kills on the first two rallies and built a 6-1 advantage behind additional offense from Dickens, Toppin and a Cazares ace. Cameron worked back into the set, tying it at 12-12 and moving ahead 13-12 before Penn's kill began the Mustangs' response. From 20-16, MSU scored five of the final six points, with Wright adding a kill and combining with Penn on a block before Toppin closed the 25-17 set win off Scheer's assist.
MSU completed the third set with a 25-19 win, finishing the set after Cameron had cut a 21-14 score to 21-18. Earlier, the Mustangs moved in front immediately, taking the first three points on an Aggies service error, a Cameron attack error and a Dickens kill from Scheer.
Savannah Cummings served an ace and Mathis delivered early kills as MSU pushed the score to 8-2, then Wright, Penn and Scheer helped the visitors keep separation through the middle of the set. The Aggies' late four-point stretch came on Mustangs attack errors, but MSU got the serve back on a Cameron error, moved to set point on Scheer's kill and closed the set on another Aggies attack error.
Dickens led the Mustangs with 13 kills while hitting .571. Scheer finished with 39 assists and converted all four of her attacks for four kills.
Jenna Redding recorded 16 digs and added two assists. Wright added 10 kills on .533 hitting with three block assists.
Up next, the Mustangs open a six-match homestand as they host Southern Nazarene on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. in Wichita Falls, Texas.
