WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State Men's Soccer jumped back into the national poll, ranking No. 18 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll (USC). MSU join the poll after being absent for two-weeks, holding a current four-match unbeaten run.
The Mustangs are one of eight new teams in the poll, with eight teams from Super Region 4 being in the top-25. MSU climbed back in the poll after a pair of region wins against Northwest Nazarene (4-2) and (RV) Western Oregon (2-0). In the win over NNU,
Parker Plaxco scored four times in the second half to seals the comeback win against the Nighthawks. During the win against WCU, the Maroon & Gold scored a goal five minutes into each half, while keeping a clean sheet making six saves.
Among teams receiving votes, St. Mary's is the only other Lone Star Conference mentioned in the poll, while former opponent Southern Nazarene also are receiving votes.
Midwestern State begin conference play this week, facing St. Edward's at Stang Park on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. against the Hilltoppers.
