WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State looks to extend its home unbeaten streak to 14 matches when it hosts Lubbock Christian at Stang Park on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Midwestern State (1-1-3, 1-0-1) won its first home game of the 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over LSC newcomer UT Dallas. Last season, the Mustangs boasted a 7-0-3 record on Stang Gang soil.
Since the start of the 2022 season, Midwestern State is 19-3-6 against visiting teams and has not suffered a home defeat since Dallas Baptist upended the Mustangs, 3-1, in the seventh home game of the 2023 campaign.
Taryn Sueltz and
Nyxalee Munoz scored in the second half against the Comets, extending the Mustangs' home winning streak to four matches. Sueltz scored in the 58th minute just before a lightning delay, and Munoz doubled the lead with a header to the back of the net in the 65th minute.
Gabby Thompson scored in the 71st minute for UT Dallas, but
Tanner Sorenson made three saves, improving her record to 1-0-2 with a goals-against average of 1.33.
Midwestern State conceded a goal in the final 10 minutes of a match in its first four games this season. The Mustangs have scored nine goals, and they have allowed nine goals this season.
Midwestern State leads the Lone Star Conference with 18.6 shots per match but is 12th in shot accuracy with 34.4 percent of the shots placed on goal.
The attack-minded Mustangs are third in the league with 5.6 corner kicks per match.
Munoz leads the team and is fourth in the LSC with 3.8 shots per game, while
Abbey Lee is ninth in the conference with 2.6 shots per game.
Munoz and
Marlene Myrvold have each scored twice this season, and
Morgan Countryman leads MSU with two assists in her freshman campaign.
Madison Brinkley,
Lillia Besedin,
Abbey Lee,
Jasmine Montgomery and Sueltz each scored one goal in the opening five games of the season.
Seven different Mustangs have accounted for eight assists this season, and MSU is fourth in the conference with 1.6 assists per match.
Midwestern State is 4-2-0 in its all-time series with Lubbock Christian and has won three of the last four meetings, including a 2-1 triumph at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex last season. Brinkley scored in the third minute, and Munoz scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute.
Lubbock Christian (3-2-1, 1-0-1) is 1-1-1 on the road this season and has just one win in four visits to Stang Park.

Cassidy Savoy in the 58th minute, and MSU defeated the Lady Chaps 1-0 in their meeting at Stang Park two years ago.
Lubbock Christian is coming off a 1-1 draw at Angelo State on Saturday afternoon. Mia Chambliss scored the equalizer in the 70th minute, and the sophomore forward was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Chambliss also came off the bench and scored in a 5-0 win over Sul Ross State to open conference play. The Lubbock native put two shots on goal last week and scored both times. She is second on the team with three goals and six points in five appearances and just 160 minutes of playing time.
Ella Spiller leads the Lady Chaps and is second in the LSC with four goals, recording a goal and an assist in the win over Sul Ross State. The sophomore from Coppell, Texas, scored twice in a 4-1 win over Colorado State-Pueblo, and she scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory at Adams State. Spillier has two assists this season.
The Lady Chaps are fourth in the LSC averaging two goals per match and have the sixth-best goals-against average at 1.17 per game.
Riley Espinoza is third in the conference and 19th among NCAA Division II players with three assists this season, and the Lady Chaps are averaging two assists per game.
Goalkeeper Emma Wright has started and played the full 90 minutes in all six games this year, allowing seven goals. The junior from Longview, Texas, has made 21 saves with a save percentage of .750. Wright made three saves and conceded two goals against the Mustangs last season.
Midwestern State is back on the road on Saturday night to face Texas Woman's at Pioneer Soccer Park in Denton, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
