ROCKWALL, Texas — Midwestern State put itself in position to win in the semifinal round of the Lone Star Conference Medal Match semifinals Wednesday afternoon at the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club.
But No. 9-ranked St. Mary's staved off the Mustangs, 3-2, to advance to the finals.
The Rattlers battle Dallas Baptist, a 4-1 winner of West Texas A&M, in the league finals later on Wednesday.
MSU senior
Makenna Henry continued to shine, carding four birdies on the way to an even-par 72 to edge St.Mary's Orla O'Leary, who logged a 1-over 73.
Sophomore
Madison Wert built a five-stroke lead early over Sabree Lefebvre, then held on to win by three strokes with a 6-over 78.
Junior
Alli Reily was sensational, carding a team-best six birdies on her way to a 2-under 70, but was upstaged by St. Mary's Libby Kilbride, who went bogey free with three birdies to win by a single stroke with a score of 69.
Savannah Dupre, who claimed LSC individual medalist honors, claimed a nine-stroke win over Midwestern State junior
Kodi Nolen. Dupre fired an even-par 72, while Taylor Wilczek (73) won by four strokes over MSU senior
Brecklyn Flanagan.
Midwestern State awaits selection into the NCAA Division II West Regionals set for May 5-7 on the La Paloma Course at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo.
