ROCKWALL, Texas — Midwestern State used an all-around effort to earn a spot in the Lone Star Conference Medal Match semifinals Tuesday afternoon at the Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club.
The Mustangs placed three individual in the Top 10 on the way to placing third in the stroke play position of the event, as MSU logged scores of 293, 294, and 300 for a cumulative 23-over, 54-hole total of 887.
Midwestern finished behind West Texas A&M (872/+8) and St. Mary's (885/+21), and ahead of perennial powerhouse Dallas Baptist (893/+29).
The Mustangs square off with St. Mary's Wednesday morning at 8 a.m., while West Texas A&M and DBU play simultaneously on the other side of the bracket. The winners play for a league championship beginning Tuesday afternoon at approximately 1:30.
Makenna Henry narrowly missed out on all-tournament honors, finishing sixth with a 4-over total of 220. The senior from Sour Lake, Texas, carded scores of a 75, 72, and 73.
Henry has now authored five-straight top-10 performances dating back to February.
She was joined in the Top 10 by junior teammate
Alli Reily, who logged tallies of 71, 75, and 76 for a 6-over 222, while
Madison Wert tied for 10th with scores of a 72, 75, and 76 for a 7-over 223.
Wert, a sophomore from Roanoke, Texas, has turned in countable scores in each of her five team competition rounds this spring. She also recorded a Top-10 finish by taking eighth at the Rogers State Hillcat Classic last month in Claremore.
Senior
Brecklyn Flanagan recorded a pair of countable scores, firing a 75 and 72 on Monday, before battling her way to an 80 in the final round. She ended up in a tie for 18th place with an 11-over total of 227.
Junior Kodi Nolan contributed a team countable, 3-over 75 in the final round to help solidify MSU's third-place finish.
St. Mary's sophomore Savannah Dupre claimed individual medalist honors by firing three par-or-better scores. The Boerne, Texas, native chased a pair of 71s with a 70 in the final round to finish with a 4-under total of 212.
Dupre was joined on the LSC All-Tournament Team by West Texas A&M's Gam Songprasert (213/-3), Texas A&M International's Margret Nyamukodiwa (216/E), West Texas A&M's Anna Nomrowski (216/E), and UT Tyler's Emmerson Doyle (216/E).
It was MSU's highest finish at a Lone Star Conference Championship since taking third in 2018.
