WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 2-ranked Midwestern State seeks a seventh consecutive victory and a 2-0 start in the Lone Star Conference as it visits No. 20-ranked Lubbock Christian at Penny Gullo Tennis Center on Friday morning at 10 a.m. On Saturday, the Mustangs visit UT Permian Basin at Ratliffe Stadium Tennis Courts in Odessa, Texas at 10 a.m.
Midwestern State is 12-1 overall this spring and is coming off a 7-0 victory over Cameron to open its LSC campaign.
In their last three dual matches, the Mustangs have taken 18 of a possible 19 points.
Jessica Binzari, ranked No. 4 in the ITA national singles rankings, is 9-1 in dual matches with a 7-0 record at No. 1 singles, and she has a seven-match winning streak.
Sophia Giraldo is ranked No. 15 in singles and has a 7-5 record for the Mustangs this spring.
The Mustangs are 48-16 in singles matches this season.
Hannah Yip has a three-match winning streak and is 6-2 in No. 2 singles position.
Anda Ghinga boasts a 9-2 record overall with eight wins at No. 4 singles.
Camila Garcia has won five of her last six matches and is 6-2 this season at No. 5 singles.
Sydney Williams has reeled off four consecutive straight-set victories and is 5-2 for the Mustangs with four wins at No. 6 singles.
Binzari and Ghinga are ranked No. 13 in doubles, while Yip and Garcia are the No. 35-ranked duo.
The Mustangs are 24-10 in doubles this spring. Binzari and Ghina are 8-3, with a 6-0 mark at No. 2 doubles. Williams and Sarah Mazaraki are 8-2 at No. 3 doubles with four consecutive victories.
Yip and Garcia have posted a 3-1 record at No. 2 doubles, and the duo is 2-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Midwestern State is 3-1 against Lubbock Christian, including two wins at Penny Gullo Tennis Center. Last season, the Mustangs defeated LCU in Wichita Falls, 4-3.
Lubbock Christian has opened the season with a 10-3 record and coming off a 6-1 victory at Tampa. The Lady Chaps are hosting the Mustangs in their conference opener.
Anastasiia Opolska is 5-4 at No. 1 singles for Lubbock Christian, and she won the point at No. 6 singles against MSU last spring.
Opolska and Anamaria Zoric are 6-3 at No. 2 doubles for the Lady Chaps.
The No. 18-ranked duo of Jacquemin Axelle and Andrea De Bernardo are 5-4 at No. 1 doubles for Lubbock Christian this season.
Midwestern State is 12-1 in its all-time meetings with UT Permian Basin and has won its last 12 encounters with the Falcons, including a 6-1 in the regular season dual last year and a 4-0 victory in the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament.
UTPB has opened the season with a 4-2 record and is opening its conference campaign against Cameron on Friday morning.
