WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 1 ranked Midwestern State is 11-1 overall with wins over six teams ranked in the top 25 as it enters conference play on Tuesday afternoon. Cameron visits MSU Tennis Center and first serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Midwestern State has reeled off five straight wins since suffering its only loss of the season to previously top-ranked Barry on Feb. 23 at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
The Mustangs have won more than 72 percent of their singles matches. No. 5-ranked Jessica Binzari is 8-1, leading a team that is 42-16 in singles this season.
Anda Ghinga is 8-2 this season and has played exclusively at No. 4 singles.
The Mustangs have at least a .727 winning percentage in five singles positions this season, and they are .500 at No. 3 singles.
Alessia Dolce and Sydney Williams have led the Stangs to a 6-2 record at No. 6 singles and have each won three consecutive matches.
Binzari and Ghinga are 8-2 as a doubles team and are ranked No. 7 in the nation. The Romanian duo leads a team that is 22-9 in doubles. Williams and Sarah Mazaraki are 7-2 in doubles with a three-match winning streak.
The Mustangs and Aggies have split their last six encounters, and Cameron leads the all-time series, 30-29-1. Midwestern State is 12-12-1 when hosting the Aggies.
Cameron is 3-4 entering the conference opener and is coming off a 4-3 loss to No. 5-ranked Washburn in Lawton, Oklahoma, on Monday.
Jenna Goessel, Martyna Jankowska and Magda Wawrowska have each won four consecutive singles matches for the Aggies, who are 16-21 in singles this season.
Jankowska and Wawroska are 3-1 in doubles for Cameron, which has prevailed in seven of 19 doubles matches this season.
Midwestern State meets Cowley College in a scrimmage at MSU Tennis Center on Thursday at 2 p.m.
