EDMOND, Okla. -- Midwestern State swept Northeastern State (Okla.), 4-0, and improved its season record to 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Edmond Racquet Club.
Hannah Yip clinched the victory with a come-from-behind win at No. 2 singles. Yip dominated the match tiebreak to claim victory over Tegan Heaton 3-6, 6-4, 10-0.
The No. 13-ranked duo of
Jessica Binzari and
Anda Ghinga started the day strong for the Mustangs, winning No. 2 doubles, 6-0, against Annika Kleinhans and Sofiia Kotliarova.
Sarah Mazaraki and
Sydney Williams clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 triumph over Lucia Bontempo and Camila Garzon at No. 3 doubles.
No. 8-ranked
Sofia Giraldo put the Mustangs up 2-0 in the dual match with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Kotliarova at No. 3 singles.
Jessica Binzari, the No. 6-ranked singles player in NCAA Division II, brought the Mustangs to the verge of victory with a 6-3, 6-2 conquest of Adel Ismagulova at No. 1 singles.
Binzari and Giraldo are both 3-1 to start the season, and Yip improved her singles' record to 2-2 with her win on Saturday.
The Mustangs are 9-2 in doubles matches. Binzari and Ghinga are both 4-0, and Mazaraki is 2-0 in doubles for the Stang Gang. Williams has started the season 3-1 in doubles.
Midwestern State is scheduled to play a scrimmage against Collin College on Monday. First serve at MSU Tennis Center is scheduled for 2 p.m.
