STILLWATER, Okla. -- Juan David Duque and
Jose Marquez won three-set matches in singles on Friday as Midwestern State pulled out a 4-3 victory against Harding (Ark.) at Greenwood Tennis Center on Friday night.
The Bisons took an early lead as No. 10-ranked doubles pairing Cas De Ruiter and Adrain Solórzano dismissed
Stephen Slocombe and
Filip Vacula at No. 1 doubles, 6-1. Edoardo D'Arrigo and Caleb Folse secured the first point of the dual match with a 6-3 win over
Killian Guillou and
Justin Van Amerongen at No. 3 doubles.
Vacula continued an impressive start to his collegiate career. The freshman from Czechia took out No. 4-ranked De Ruiter, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
Philip Kamara, a junior from Romania, earned his first win of the  year and gave the Mustangs a 2-1 lead with his 6-4, 7-6 (8) victory over Caleb Folse at No. 5 singles.Â
No. 27-ranked Adrian Solozrano of Harding outlasted No. 16
Bruno Sanchez at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, to draw the Bisons even in the dual match.
Cian Mikkelsen won a tight match over
Germano Setti at No. 3 singles, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4, and the Mustangs were trailing 3-2 with the final two matches to be determined.Â
Duque kept the Mustangs in the dual match with his 7-6 (3), 6-7 (6), 6-2 victory over Florian Gayme at No. 6 singles, and Marquez rebounded from a marathon second set to put the Mustangs in the winners' circle with a 6-3, 6-7 (15), 6-2 win over Luis Diaz Munio at No. 4 singles.
Midwestern State is hosting Collin College for a scrimmage at MSU Tennis Center on Monday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
