WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State had five players named to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Men's All-South Central Region team prior to its appearance in the national semifinals at Colorado Springs on Friday night against Southern New Hampshire.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jake Morris, junior forward Parker Plaxco and senior midfielder Liam Pritchard were all selected to the first team. Junior defenseman Davis Mays and junior midfielder Alan Rivera were both chosen for the second team.
Morris is 11-2-2 in 15 starts for the Mustangs and has posted nine clean sheets this season. The transfer from Denver University boasts a goals-against average of 0.71 and a .796 save percentage.
Plaxco scored the game-winning goal with 15 seconds remaining in overtime against Seattle Pacific in the second round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship, and he scored the first goal in the Super Region 4 final as the Mustangs went on to defeat Point Loma in overtime, 3-2. The native of Stephenville, Texas, has 13 goals and 31 points this season.
Plaxco erupted for four goals in a 4-2 victory over Northwest Nazarene at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas, just before the start of the conference campaign.
Pritchard assisted Plaxco on the game-winning goal against Seattle Pacific, and the LSC Midfielder of the Year assisted Dereck Espinal on the game-winning goal at Point Loma in the Super Region 4 final. Pritchard leads the team with six assists, and he has scored two goals this season, including the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Lubbock Christian on Oct. 29.
Mays, who had an assist in Plaxco's four-goal outburst against Northwest Nazarene, is a fifth-year senior from Wichita Falls who returned home after starting his collegiate career at UT Tyler. Mays was the LSC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 13 after the Mustangs shut out UT Tyler and Oklahoma Christian in back-to-back games. Mays scored the first goal of the season for MSU in a 1-1 draw at Colorado Mesa. Mays played the full 90 minutes in 15 matches this season and logged 1,907 minutes for MSU, going the distance in both overtime wins during the postseason.
Rivera was named the LSC Newcomer of the Year and is tied for seventh in the LSC with five goals this season, including two game-winning strikes. His first goal of the season was the game-winning tally in a 2-0 win over Western Oregon, and he also scored the game-winner in a 2-0 triumph at Oklahoma Christian. Rivera has three assists this season, including one against UT Tyler in the LSC Men's Soccer Championship semifinals at Stang Park on Nov. 12.
Midwestern State meets Southern New Hampshire for a berth in the national championship game on Friday night at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at 7 p.m. CST.
