LUBBOCK, Texas — Midwestern State (10-3-3, 6-2-0) secured a 2-0 victory over Lubbock Christian (6-7-3, 5-3-2) on Wednesday evening at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex. The Mustangs' defense was solid, with goalkeeper
Jake Morris recording six saves to maintain a shutout as MSU remained unbeaten on the road with a 4-0-2 record.
The first half commenced with MSU taking early control, as
Alan Rivera and
Parker Plaxco both tested the defense with shots in the opening minutes. Morris made critical saves against efforts from LCU's Kade McKinzie and Francisco Horta, maintaining a clean sheet.
The Maroon & Gold capitalized on its momentum in the 33rd minute when
Liam Pritchard scored with assists from
Angel Escobar and
Tanner Tea, giving them a 1-0 lead. The half concluded with MSU maintaining their advantage.
The Mustangs began the second half with solid defensive play, highlighted by Morris saving a shot from the Chaparrals' Manu Nunez in the 51st minute. The Maroon & Gold then created multiple scoring opportunities, with
Liam Pritchard and
Liam Kervick both testing the opposition's goalkeeper, Connor Pettigrew.
In the 82nd minute,
Liam Kervick broke the deadlock with a goal assisted by
