Midwestern State looks to remain unbeaten at home as Hilltoppers visit Stang Park

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State extended its unbeaten streak to six with a 2-0 win in its mid-week match at Oklahoma Christian and welcomes St. Edward's to Stang Park for a Lone Star Conference clash on Saturday morning. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Midwestern State (3-1-4, 3-0-2) has won its two home matches this season and is seeking its first win over the Hilltoppers since 2017. St. Edward's is 5-2-2 when visiting the Mustangs and 2-0-5 in its last seven appearances at Stang Park. The Hilltoppers have not lost in Wichita Falls since 1998, when Midwestern State prevailed, 5-1.

Madison Brinkley scored in the second minute, and Alinessa Salinas scored in the 79th minute as Midwestern State earned its first away victory and turned in its first clean sheet of the season with a 2-0 win at Oklahoma Christian.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tanner Sorenson made two saves, improving her record to 3-0-3. Sorenson has a goals-against average of 1.00 and a .625 save percentage.

Midwestern State is outscoring its opponents, 15-11, and Nyxalee Munoz leads the team with three goals and one assist.

Brinkley, Lillia Besedin and Marlene Myrvold have each scored twice for the Mustangs, and Morgan Countryman has two assists. Brinkley and Munoz each have an assist. Munoz leads the team with seven points. 

St. Edward's (2-5-2, 1-2-2) is winless in its last three matches after defeating West Texas A&M, 3-2, in Canyon.  The Hilltoppers played a 2-2 draw at Angelo State before succumbing to St. Mary's, 1-0. St. Edward's is coming off a 0-0 draw with UT Tyler.

Daria Schlumbohm made eight saves to preserve the shutout for St. Edward's, which has two clean sheets this season. Schlumbohm combined with Miranda Sullivan the shut out North Greenville 7-0 last month.

Annie Rocha scored a hat trick in the win over North Greenville and had a two-goal performance in the win over West Texas A&M. 
Rocha's team-leading sixth goal of the season came in a 2-2 draw at Angelo State. The sophomore from Austin, Texas, leads the Hilltoppers with 13 points. Rocha assisted on a Rainey Simmons goal during a 4-1 loss to UCCS.

Katie Fitzpatrick has two goals, and Jisell Zavaleta Denova has a team-leading three assists for the Hilltoppers. 

Midwestern State hosts West Texas A&M on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
