Midwestern State (7-1-6, 7-0-4) is 5-0-1 at home this season and has an 18-game unbeaten streak as the hosts following a 1-1 draw with UT Tyler on Sunday afternoon.
Mable Pruter recorded her sixth assist of the season, and her fifth in the last six games, as she set up
Lillia Besedin's equalizer in the 79th minute against the Patriots.
Besedin has scored a goal in each of the last three games, and is tied with
Marlene Myrvold for the team lead with six goals this season.
Myrovold had a three-game goal-scoring streak snapped on Sunday but still leads the team with 14 points.
Nyxalee Munoz has five goals for the Mustangs but has been kept off the scoresheet in each of the last three games. The senior midfielder played 90 minutes in the match on Sunday and put two of her four shots on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper
Lauren Short made her sixth start on Sunday and made three saves in the victory. Short is 2-1-2 with a 1.15 goals-against average.
Tanner Sorenson has made 10 starts in goal for the Mustangs, and boasts a 5-0-4 record with a 1.03 goals-against average.
Midwestern State is 13-1-1 in its all-time series with UT Permian Basin, and the Mustangs have won the last five meetings, including a 2-0 victory at Stang Park last season.
Jimena Rodriguez and
Nyxalee Munoz scored goals in last year's win over the Falcons. MSU improved to 6-1-1 when hosting UT Permian Basin. The Falcons only win in the series came at Stang Park in 2018, when UTPB pulled out a 2-1 overtime triumph.
UT Permian Basin (3-8-3, 2-8-2) is coming off a 2-0 loss at Angelo State, and the Falcons are 1-4-1 in away matches this season.
The loss to the Rambelles marked the 10th time UTPB has been shutout, and the Falcons have only scored 10 goals this season.
Cassandra Ramirez has three goals and three assists to lead the team with nine points.
Mikaela Corral and Allyson Reed have each scored twice, and Natalia Salas has two assists for the Falcons.
Goalkeeper Valeria Delgado is 3-8-3 with a goals-against average of 1.04, and she has posted two clean sheets on her own this season. She has combined with Alexia Hernandez on two other shutouts for the Falcons.
Midwestern State travels to Eastern New Mexico for the penultimate game of the season on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon CDT.
