WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Midwestern State (12-4, 5-2 Lone Star) defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State (7-12, 5-2 GAC) in straight sets, winning 25-19, 25-17, 25-18 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Tuesday night. The Mustangs recorded eight service aces, contributing to their comprehensive victory. This win also extended Midwestern State's impressive unbeaten streak at home this season to 8-0.

Midwestern State began the first set with a solid start, capitalizing on an early attack error by Southwestern Oklahoma's Katja Blanchat and an ace from Jenna Redding to take a 2-0 lead. Despite a scoring run by SWOSU, which included a series of errors from the Mustangs, the home team regrouped with a kill from Wright and capitalized on opponent mistakes to narrow the gap.

MSU regained momentum midway through the set with a combination of kills from Vinzant and a service ace, again assisted by Guerrero, which helped them overtake the visitors. The team extended their lead by forcing attack errors from the Bulldogs, with Stauffenberg and Dickens contributing significantly through blocks.

In the closing stages, the Maroon & Gold maintained control with additional kills by Vinzant, ultimately clinching the set 25-17. The team finished strong, building a comfortable lead and securing the set. This victory also marked the continuation of Midwestern State's three-match winning streak.

Midwestern State initiated the third set with a pivotal kill by Stauffenberg, setting the tone early. Vinzant contributed significantly with a service ace and multiple kills, helping the team recover from an initial deficit. Guerrero's playmaking abilities were evident, providing key assists to sustain their scoring momentum.

As the set progressed, the Mustangs maintained their edge with effective service aces from Vinzant and Redding, while Dickens added crucial kills. The team managed to build a lead and withstand a brief Bulldogs surge. MSU closed the set with a final kill by Dickens, securing a 25-18 victory and extending their lead in the match.
