WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Eastern New Mexico's Mario Whitley hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:15 to play to lift the Greyhounds to a 70-69 win over Midwestern State in Lone Star Conference play Thursday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
ENMU's Cougar Downing scored five points to spark a 7-0 run in the closing minutes and gave the 'Hounds a 67-64 lead on a triple with 2:01 to play.
Whitley then answered Reggie Hill's 3-pointer with a triple of his own to give the Greyhounds the lead for good.
The win completes a season sweep for the Greyhounds, who also beat the Mustangs 83-81 early this month in Portales.
The loss snapped an 11-game home court winning streak for Midwestern State which fell to 14-5 on the season and moved to 9-4 in conference play.
Eastern New Mexico improved to 13-7 and 8-6.
Midwestern State takes on West Texas A&M Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
