ODESSA, Texas -- Midwestern State looks to rebound after a disappointing 72-68 loss at Angelo State as it visits UT Permian Basin on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff at UTPB Gym Complex is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Midwestern State was outrebounded by the Rams on Thursday night, 37-26, and only managed two second-chance points as it failed to grab an offensive rebound in the second half at Junell Center.
Mason Gibson scores 16.7 points per game and is the fifth-leading scorer in the Lone Star Conference. Gibson has scored double digits in 13 of 14 games this season after finishing with 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting at Angelo State.
Fifth-year senior Pierre Sanders led the scoring attack at Angelo State with 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the field, including a 2-of-5 performance from 3-point range. Sanders is the second-leading scorer for the Mustangs with 11.5 points per game.
Sanders is shooting 46.7 percent from the field (64 of 137) for a team that is shooting 46.2 percent, which is sixth-best in the conference.
Bakari LaStrap scored nine points in the loss at Angelo State but is averaging 11 points per game and is shooting 61 percent from the field (26 of 43).
