Mustangs square off with defending LSC champs Saturday at Memorial Stadium

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State takes on defending Lone Star Conference champion UT Permian Basin Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The Family Day matchup is slated to kickoff at 7 p.m.

The game streams live on FloSports, the exclusive broadcast partner of the Lone Star Conference.

Subscriptions are available for $14.99 per month or $99.99 per year. Additionally, those who use .edu email addresses from an LSC member institution will be able to sign up at a discounted subscription price of $9.99 per month or $69.99 for the year. The Mustangs (2-1, 1-0 LSC) are coming off or a 36-15 win at Eastern New Mexico in the conference opener last Saturday in Portales.

Midwestern State was opportunistic against the Greyhounds, turning four turnovers into 20 points, including a 59-yard interception return for a touchdown by reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week Ryan Melton. Melton, who also picked off another pass against ENMU, leads the LSC with three interceptions.

MSU senior Joseph Carlson, a transfer from Air Force, connected on a school single-game record five field goals, including a long of 48 yards just before halftime.

Junior running back Devin Cross led a strong ground game for the Mustangs with a career-high 154 yards on 21 carries, while Jalen March pitched in 132 yards on 15 totes. Each accounted for a rushing touchdown.

UT Permian Basin (2-2, 1-1 LSC) is coming off of a 20-14 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville last week at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland.

The Javelinas limited UTPB to a season-low 290 yards and ran out to a 17-0 lead at halftime, then held on for the win.

The Falcons are led by junior running back Kory Harris, who has accounted for 373 rushing yards, including a season-high of 155 against Adams State.

Senior quarterback Dylan Graham has completed 79-of-148 passes for 1,123 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. Redshirt-senior Jeremiah Cooley is the top target, amassing 277 yards on 19 receptions.

Cross tops the Mustangs' rushing attack with 272 yards on 36 carries with two touchdowns this season, while March has accounted for 213 yards on 39 carries with a TD.

Junior quarterback Sean Jastrab has completed 43-of-76 passes for 472 yards with a touchdown. His top targets are sophomore wideout Demonte Greene (5 receptions, 111 yards) and junior Justin White, Jr. (10 receptions, 94 yards).

ABOUT THE SERIES | Midwestern State holds a 6-2 edge in its series against UT Permian Basin and is 3-1 against the Falcons at Memorial Stadium. UTPB did win last year's meeting -- 21-13 -- played in Wichita Falls.
