Midwestern State returns home with three-match winning streak

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State enters conference play this weekend with a three-match winning streak. In fact, the Mustangs have won nine consecutive sets as they prepare to host No. 14-ranked Angelo State and Lubbock Christian during Family Weekend on the MSU campus.

The Rambelles visit D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Friday night, and first serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Lady Chaparrals visit the Mustangs for a 2 p.m. match.

The Mustangs are coming off a dominant performance at the Lone Star Conference Challenge in Portales, New Mexico. The Mustangs swept their way past Eastern New Mexico, Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State.

Midwestern State boasted an attack percentage of .341 for the three matches combined. Riley Rabedeaux led the way. The senior from Washington left Portales with 35 kills in nine sets and hit a robust .394 for the three matches.

Isabella Dickens leads the team and is ninth in the conference with a .318 hitting percentage, while Gabrielle Oos is 15th in the league with a .286 hitting percentage.

Oos has recorded 34 of the Mustangs' 63 blocks, and is fifth in the conference with a block per set. Dickens has 24 blocks.

Rabedeaux leads the team with 126 total points over 37 sets, and is 16th in the LSC with 3.41 points per set. Demi Stauffenberg is the team leader and 14th in the conference with 3.46 points per set.

Stauffenberg has appeared in 35 sets and is second on the team with 107 kills. Rabedeaux leads the Mustangs and is 14th in the league with 117 kills over 37 sets.

Brooke Parker leads MSU and is seventh in the conference with 7.09 assists per set.

The Stang Gang is leading the LSC and is fourth in the nation with 40.81 attacks per set.

Midwestern State is fifth in the conference and 43rd in the nation with 16.97 digs per set.

Jenna Redding is averaging 3.86 digs per set, which is 12th in the LSC. Amy DeWalt is 19th in the conference with 3.19 digs per set.

Angelo State leads the all-time series with the Mustangs, 41-11, and has won the last 27 matches against MSU. The Rambelles won in straight sets at D.L. Ligon Coliseum last season, 25-20, 25-14, 25-20, improving to 16-7 all-time under the dome.

The Rambelles are 10-1 this season with a nine-match winning streak since succumbing to No. 23-ranked Central Oklahoma in a five-set match on Sept. 6 at Junell Center. Angelo State is 3-0 in true road matches this season.

Madi Parrish, a sophomore outside hitter, was named AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after posting 14 kills and 12 digs in a four-set win over No. 20-ranked Dallas Baptist, and she recorded a career-high 23 kills in a four-set win over No. 3-ranked West Texas A&M at the Burg Center on the Dallas Baptist campus in the LSC Challenge.

Middle blocker Demi Carter earned LSC Freshman of the Week honors. Carter recorded a career-high 15 kills on a .609 attack percentage before recording nine kills in the win over West Texas A&M. Carter is hitting .416 this season.

Lubbock Christian enters the weekend with a 4-6 overall record and has four-match losing streak entering its match on Friday at Texas Woman's.

The Lady Chaps lead the all-time series with MSU, 20-15, and won the last four meetings, including a five-set win at D.L. Ligon Coliseum last season. Lubbock Christian is 7-8 all-time when visiting Midwestern State.

Kiana Fallaha leads the LCU attack with 3.85 kills per set, while Briley Schweer is sixth in the conference with a .348 hitting percentage. Lily Bickley is right behind Schweer with a .328 hitting percentage. Kayton Genebacher is fourth in the league with 9.98 assists per set.

Midwestern State is on the road for a mid-week match at Dallas Baptist on Wednesday. First serve at Burg Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
