WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Mere Escobar struck the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to lift the 12th-ranked Mustangs to a 2-1 derby win over West Texas A&M Wednesday night at Stang Park.
The Mustangs improved to 4-0-2 with their third-straight win in the non-conference battle, while the Buffs dropped to 2-4-1.
Midwestern State takes on St. Mary's in another non-conference tilt Saturday afternoon at Sigma Beta Chi Field in San Antonio. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
How it Happened
Midwestern State struck first when Samuele Muroni scored his third goal of the season in the 46th minute, assisted by Mere Escobar.
The Buffaloes levelled the match on a goal from Matteo Landais in the 62nd minute, assisted on a cross from the left wing by Quintin Benn-John.
The Mustangs went on top 2-1 on Escobar's 89th-minute goal, his seventh of the season. Skyler Krchnak assisted the goal.
