DENTON, Texas -- Midwestern State's Brecklyn Flanagan matched a career low with a 2-under 70 in the opening round of the DBU Classic Sunday afternoon at the Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch.

The score matched her best collegiate performance, originally set in the second round of the Oklahoma Intercollegiate at the Lawton Country Club during her freshman campaign in 2021-22. It was the senior's fifth par-or-better score as a collegian.

Flanagan stands in fifth place and just a stroke behind a quartet of golfers at the top of the leaderboard. Dallas Baptist's Gracie Grant, Eryn Garza, and Madison Ude were joined by UT Tyler transfer Arnie Taguines -- all fired 3-under scores of 69.

Flanagan fired three birdies -- all on the Front Nine -- including a pair on par-4s and another on the par-5, Hole No. 9.

Junior Kodi Nolen fired a 1-over 73 and fellow junior Alli Reily fired a 2-over 74 were joined by senior Makenna Henry with a 7-over 79 with team countable performances.

Together, the Mustangs stand 10th with a 8-over team total of 296.

Freshman Mary Kerr fired a 2-over 74 in her first collegiate round, while sophomore Madison Wert battled to a 13-over 85.

Dallas Baptist fired an 11-under team total of 277 to take a 10-stroke lead over UT Tyler (287/-1).

The Patriots were trailed by Flagler (289/3rd), St. Mary's (289/3rd), and Nova Southeastern (290/5th) to round out the top five.

Midwestern State begins the second round of the DBU Classic by going off of the 10th hole Monday morning beginning at 8:40 a.m.

The tournament concludes with a third round on Tuesday.
