Mustangs beat Oklahoma Baptist to improve to 4-0

MSU off to best start in program history

SHAWNEE, Oklahoma-- Midwestern State's Nyxalee Munoz converted a free kick from inside the offensive end of half way in the 56th minute to provide the difference in a 1-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist Saturday afternoon at the OBU Soccer complex.

The Mustangs improved to 4-0 for the first time in program history, while the Bison dipped to 0-3.

Midwestern State previously won its first three matches of the season in 2004, 2009, and 2010. In 2009, the Mustangs went unbeaten over their first 11 matches at 9-0-2.

How it Happened

Midwestern State took a 1-0 lead when Nyxalee Munoz scored her second goal of the season in the 56th minute. The free kick resulted from a foul committed by Oklahoma Baptist's Hali White, who went shoulder-to-shoulder before tugging Munoz' jersey near the touch line. The goal was Munoz' second of the season.
