WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The 17th Annual Midwestern State Athletics Welcome Back Dinner features former Dallas Cowboy and longtime broadcast analyst Babe Laufenberg as its guest speaker on Sunday, Aug. 18, at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The event begins with a social gathering at 5:30 p.m. The dinner, catered by Ribs, Inc., follows at 6 p.m., with the program starting at approximately 6:45.

Laufenberg played eight seasons as a quarterback in the National Football League. Originally drafted by the Washington Redskins in 1983, he finished hs playing career with the Dallas Cowboys in 1990.
Also a standout prep performer on the diamond, Laufenberg was selected in the Major League Baseball draft out of Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California.
Instead, he opted to begin his collegiate playing career at Stanford, where he played for Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh.
He redshirted as a freshman behind second-team, All-PAC 10 performer Steve Dils, then opted to transfer after future NFL Hall of Famer John Elway enrolled at Stanford.
Laufenberg decided to transfer to the University of Missouri. At the time, the Tigers had just implemented the veer offense and future Major League Baseball star Phil Bradley was the starting quarterback.
Laufenberg finished his career and graduated from Indiana, where he played for legendary head coach and television icon Lee Corso.
He finished his college career with Indiana school record for single season passing yards (2,468), single-game passing yards (390), career pass completions (361), single-season pass completions (217), single-game pass completions (34), career completion percentage (58.6), and single-season completion percentage (59.6).
Following an NFL career with stints with the Redskins, San Diego Chargers, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, and Dallas Cowboys, Laufenberg went on to be the main sports anchor at CBS TV-11 in Dallas-Fort Worth for 17 years. He is in his 28th year as the analyst for the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network.
The National Sports Media Association named him the Texas Sportscaster of the Year on three occasions.
