WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State is ranked 16th in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches' Poll released by the Golf Coaches' Association of America on Friday.
The Mustangs have finished in the top five in seven tournaments this season including team wins in the first two tournament of the spring at the Houston Classic and St. Mary's Rattler Invitational after closing the fall semester with a runner-up performance in The Hrnciar Invitational at The Territory Golf Club.
Midwestern State sports an adjusted team scoring average of 287.0 in 27 rounds this season with a finish percentage of .768.
Sophomore
Seth Bearden is currently ranked second in the NCAA Division II individual rankings powered by Clippd with an adjusted scoring average of 69.8. The Crowell native owns an individual win and four top-three performances this season with a finish percentage of .918.
Senior
Robert Garcia finished in the top six in the first three tournaments of the fall, improving to a national ranking of 92nd. His adjusted season scoring average is 72.2 with a .693 finish percentage.
Senior
Keaton Dickens carries a national ranking of 206th, while junior
Gatlin Goad is 256th.
Midwestern State is one of 10 teams from NCAA Division II's South Central Region to receive mention in the poll, joining No. 5 Oklahoma Christian, No. 6 Colorado Christian, No. 12 Dallas Baptist, No. 18 UT Permian Basin, and No. 20 Colorado State-Pueblo.
Western New Mexico, Colorado School of Mines, West Texas A&M, Colorado Mesa, and UT Tyler are receiving votes.
The Mustangs compete in the Lone Star Conference Championships from April 22-24 at WinStar Golf Club in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
